Finally we did it! A monthly
journey through the Western United States. I am amazed about US – both nature
and culture. We visited four States – California, Arizona, Utah and Nevada, and
drove more than 2500 miles.
We split our travel into a
2-weeks round trip and a 1.5 week of a single day trips, staying at one
place near San Francisco.
Our loop was the following:
San Francisco – Los Angeles –
Joshua Tree NP – Grand Canyon NP – Antelope
Canyon – Zion NP – Bryce Canyon NP – Las Vegas – Death Valley NP –
Yosemite NP – and back to San Francisco.
Whereas through the last days
we travelled along Californian Coast together with a couple of visits in San
Francisco.
In the following months, I will share with you the best trips we’ve done. Let’s start with the most breathtaking view I’ve ever seen – Grand Canyon. :)
One of the seven wonders of
the world is the unique geological form carved by the Colorado River in
Arizona. The size of the Canyon is impressive: 446 km long and 29 km wide.
The Grand Canyon is the witness of nearly 2 billion years of Earth’s history.
It offers memorable views and good prepared trails for hikers. The most amazing
views are during the sunrise and sunset. Let’s see the pictures from this
gorgeous place.
PRACTICAL INFORMATION
We spent 2 days in Grand
Canyon. The first day we did a long hike (or rather descent) to the Plateau
Point. The trail starts in Grand Canyon Village and ends with the scenic view
over the river. It took us around 7 hours to do the trail both ways. Go there
only if you feel in shape, otherwise it can be really exhausting.
BTW as the Grand Canyon Village Camping grounds were full, we pitched the tent in Tusayan. I just want to add that the view of the sky full of stars was magnificent ☆☆☆
The second day we’ve decided to take a free shuttle bus and visit most of the vista points. The overlook at the canyon is much better from these points that from the trail to the river or Plateau Point.
